Tag 4 A Cause Is A Success at Ultrazone Fort Wayne
The two-night Tag 4 A Cause event at Ultrazone Fort Wayne in Indiana was a success in so many ways! My thanks to Luke (aka Skywalker) and the staff at Ultrazone for helping me coordinate this opportunity to reach out to the local laser tag community as well as the players competing in the Zone Nats to help raise funds in support of American Red Cross Disaster Relief. We set a goal for the event to raise at least $500 and thanks to these laser taggers we achieved that goal and will continue to support this cause between now and the end of December.
This was an opportunity not only to raise funds, but also to raise awareness. The donations to American Red Cross Disaster Relief will help people whose lives have been upended by wildfires, storms, floods and countless other crises. These gifts will not only help with immediate needs like food and shelter, but will also put people on the road to recovery and guide communities as they better prepare for disasters. You can learn more at https://www.redcross.org. I was glad to have a chance to have a few moments to share some info with groups in the briefing room before every game began.
Between games I was set up with a table in the front lobby to answer questions and distribute Tag 4 A Cause medals to players who donated and accepted the Tag 4 A Cause Laser Tag 5K Challenge.
It was awesome to see so many people show their support. Players of all ages got involved!
We even had some kids donating their own loose change, which shows that they understood they could help make a difference too!
We even had an entire birthday party come up to the table to donate!
And with Zone Nats going on this weekend we had some tournament players get behind this as well.
Of course they were helping the cause, but anyone who donated also had a chance to win a golden phaser high score trophy each night.
Congratulations to Tysin (aka Nugget) who won on Friday night with a score of 21,800.
And congratulations to Jimmy (aka WoahStepBro) with a high score of 26,300.
One of the goals of Tag 4 A Cause is helping worthy organizations. Another goal is to encourage people to laser tag for fitness and fun by pledging to complete a 5K laser tag challenge in any laser tag arena, anywhere. I was delighted to complete my own 5K challenge over the course of several games at Ultrazone. I earned my medal too!
One of the reasons I reached out to Ultrazone Fort Wayne was because I know this to be an exceptional arena. They were one of the arenas selected for the Tiviachick’s Top Ten arena contest held last summer with my blog readers voting on their favorites. I loved seeing that they have their recognition displayed at the front counter.
See for yourself, this arena is truly unique!
They are now running Zone Helios 2 equipment, which was a treat to get to play!
My thanks again to everyone at Ultrazone Fort Wayne who participated in Tag 4 A Cause. If you missed the event and still want to be involved you can visit the Tag 4 A Cause webpage…and watch for details on an upcoming pop-up event!
