50 States Laser Tag Tour
Home for me is New York, but in 2014 I played laser tag in another state (Maryland) for the first time at PHOCON in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of Photon and the start of the laser tag industry. This changed EVERYTHING!
Five years later I completed my goal to be the first person ever to laser tag in all 50 states on the 35th anniversary of laser tag. I accomplished this by playing at an arena near Dallas, TX, the city that was home to the first laser tag center, Photon, which opened on March 28, 1984. This date is honored annually as International Laser Tag Day. On March 28, 2019 I achieved my goal while playing a private game with George Carter III, the inventor of Photon.
Now, after laser tagging in over 500 arenas, I am on track to circle around and laser tag in all 50 states, all over again. My goal is to finish by March 28, 2024, which will be the 40th anniversary of the industry and ten years from the time my tag travels first led me to play outside of my local home arenas.
This second time around begins with the states I visited after travel restrictions lifted following the first year of the pandemic. I realize that many excellent laser tag arenas did not make it through that challenging time, so the purpose of my journey now is to celebrate those that did as well as those that have opened since then.
I invite you to follow me on this journey as I blog about my travel adventures and fill in each state along the way until I can become the first person ever to laser tag in all 50 states…TWICE!
